As a printmaker the 2D printed image is my primary consideration. This doesn’t stop me occasionally feeling challenged to take my work into the third dimension. With the People & Place project the possibility arose to use my Linocut plates in a new way. Sue Acheson of Tarago Pottery suggested we press the plates into clay in her Rokeby studio. Working with clay was exciting and although the overall process was much longer I was delighted with the textures and surprised by the intensity of the coloured slip glazes. It was immensely satisfying to see my work which is usually so fragile and possibly ephemeral, evolve into something enduring that may withstand a long passage of time.
